Activities & Experiences:
- Day 1: Arrival – Colombo
Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, a representative from Hope Lanka will greet you and transfer you to your hotel in Colombo. In the afternoon, explore the highlights of Sri Lanka’s bustling capital. Visit the historic Fort area, colorful Pettah market, and iconic landmarks such as Independence Square, BMICH, and the National Museum. Drive through the elegant Cinnamon Gardens and visit both a Buddhist and a Hindu temple, showcasing Colombo’s cultural diversity. Overnight stay in Colombo.
- Day 2: Colombo – Anuradhapura – Giritale
After breakfast, journey north to the sacred city of Anuradhapura, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. Explore awe-inspiring ruins including ancient stupas, the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi Tree—grown from a cutting of the Bodhi tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment—and more architectural marvels. Continue your scenic drive to Giritale for an overnight stay, surrounded by serene landscapes.
- Day 3: Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa – Giritale
After breakfast, ascend the majestic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its ancient frescoes, water gardens, and royal palace ruins perched atop a 200-meter-high rock. In the afternoon, travel to Polonnaruwa, another UNESCO-listed ancient city. Walk among remarkably preserved ruins, including royal palaces, religious shrines, and the stunning rock-cut Buddha statues of Gal Vihara. Return to Giritale for your overnight stay.
- Day 4: Giritale – Dambulla – Kandy
Depart for Kandy, making a stop at the Dambulla Cave Temple, Sri Lanka’s largest and best-preserved cave temple complex with exquisite wall paintings and over 150 Buddha statues. Upon arrival in Kandy, check into your hotel. In the evening, visit the revered Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, which houses a relic of Lord Buddha, followed by a vibrant cultural dance performance. Enjoy your overnight stay in Kandy, nestled among lush hills.
- Day 5: Kandy – Pinnawala – Colombo
After breakfast, visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, home to over 4,000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, and medicinal herbs. Explore Kandy’s local markets and arts & crafts centers. After a short rest at the hotel, check out and begin your return journey to Colombo. En route, stop at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage to observe and interact with rescued elephants. Arrive in Colombo for your final overnight stay.
- Day 6: Departure
According to your flight schedule, you will be transferred to Bandaranaike International Airport. Enjoy a smooth and timely departure, taking with you the memories of Sri Lanka’s historical splendor and cultural charm.
